Big Open Story Studio (BOSS!)

Think…Art on Steroids. This will be a collaborative studio effort with kids and adults encouraged to co-create. The final product will be a very large room size installation incorporating art, storytelling, sound and lighting. Rotating artists will share their fun brand of art making. Polymer Clay Beads

Handmade bead necklaces are the latest rage. Learn to create simple polymer clay beads and patterned canes (a log or cylinder of clay with a design running through it) to construct more detailed beads. Each person will design a unique cane, learn to slice the designed cane, and apply to beads.

Not quite drawing, not quite painting, the best of both of worlds, pastels are the most flexible and creative of all painting mediums. Learn the basics of dry (chalk) pastels. Ray will demonstrate painting a still life from beginning to end and will talk about the materials available and ways to use them. He will also show how to use water with pastels for wonderful effects. Class will paint at least two pictures from still life setups or photos.

Introduction to Forest Bonsai

Learn to build a bonsai grove with trident maples. Concepts of group planting will be explained. Students will create a seven tree forest in a shallow tray to add to their bonsai collection. Plein Air Painting

Nothing is more enjoyable than painting outside on beautiful autumn days, but there is a knack to plein air painting. Ray will help you gain skill working on site, dealing with the problems that arise, and sharpening your paintings to produce an impression of the morning. Ray will do demos in pastel, but you may work in any medium.
