Bruce Neville is praised as a teacher of transparent watercolor for all levels, beginner to advanced. To paint a successful painting, there will be a strong emphasis on drawing and designing subjects such as landscapes, street scenes, and water subject matter. Students will explore advanced topics and techniques in colored pencil. Emphasis is on developing students' personal style and interests as well as reviewing basic strokes and color techniques. Previous experience in colored pencil is helpful, not necessary. Supply list available.

Learn to draw more accurately through class exercises. Study light, shadow and tonal values using pencil conté crayon, charcoal, and marker pens. Individual projects are encouraged.

Perspective, foreshortening, anatomy and other drawing fundamentals taught for both the novice and those seeking to brush up on learned principles. Practical exercises will be demonstrated that will help make the discipline of drawing a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience for even the most unseasoned beginner. Additionally, the class offers insight into how the work of great figures throughout the History of Art relates to a student's understanding of drawing as a form of true self-expression.

Beginner Pastels

Vibrant, pure color makes painting in pastels a joy! It is the easiest of all the painting mediums - no mixing of colors, no solvents - and making changes is a breeze! We will explore all types of pastels and grounds now available and learn to use them. Along the way, we will talk about basics of art such as composition, value (lights and darks), and color for a good foundation in pastel painting. Recommended supplies will cost approx. $100-$150

Building on our knowledge, we will move further into the world of pastels. Still life setups will be offered - at least two to choose from in each class - or students can work from photos. In good weather there is the option to work outside. Lots of personal attention will be given to help each

This fun, hands-on basic writing course will have you laughing and cheering yourself on to greater heights of creativity with our new instructor, Ellen Everman. This writing session will help you sharpen your skills for all kinds of writing: poetry, exposition, fiction, non-fiction, business (learn promotional writing for your art!) and journalism. Have fun writing with a "pro".

This class covers the basics of digital photography: setting up and using digital cameras, saving/organizing images in your computer, manipulating images using Photoshop Elements and printing from digital files. The course includes digital photography lab time and an outdoor workshop. Students should have some familiarity with computers and some experience with either film or digital cameras as prerequisites. Teens welcome.

Turn your negatives into positives! This is a facilitated open darkroom session for those who enjoy printing the black and white photograph. Are you a fan of Japanese style comics? Do you constantly sketch Manga characters, but the characters never move? Animate Anime to the rescue! Put on your robe and grab a wand, we're heading to H*gwarts! Celebrate the H*rry P*tter universe in this highly atmospheric class. In class we will watch some of the movies, play games and go on adventures around school grounds. Just in time for Halloween!
